George,
You made me giggle to myself,,, hhmmm is that a bad
sign,,, Question,, would the proposed meeting be for the purpose of
planning some definitive action or is it just a meeting to have a
friendly drink together. either way I think I would come but I just
wanted to have some expectations one way or the other cos in the past
poor old Harry just paid out for beer and food and I always felt a bit
guilty about that. Harry you're a gentleman.

John.

Hi
I always felt guilty about Harry paying as well, he's a gent!

How about the 18th 8pm, 'cos I think Darren is busy until later in the month
and it would be good to have him, Harry and Ged (if they are still
interested) 'cos they were the original founders I think.

Hands up if you are interested

George

Hi
I always felt guilty about Harry paying as well, he's a gent!

How about the 18th 8pm, 'cos I think Darren is busy until later in the month and it would be good to have him, Harry and Ged (if they are still interested) 'cos they were the original founders I think.

Hands up if you are interested

George

He has got a point.

Top posting to mailinglists is annoying. Learn to quote messages correctly
and in context.

It makes you look less like an idiot.

Look, what gives you or him the right to start insulting people and
calling them an idiot?

I do think however you probably fall into the 50 yard hero category
and would only try insulting people when you behind your keyboard.

Your attitude and his is not what is wanted in the discussion group so
take it elsewhere or mind your manners in the future.

Sorry, I wasn't intending it to look like I was calling him an idiot
specifically. I meant in general.

> I do think however you probably fall into the 50 yard hero category

Not correct, I would be more than happy to point out in person when
somebody is making a mistake or not following best practise in any
situation.

No, I believe your (and others) over-reaction to being corrected on
certain issues is 'not what is wanted'.

Personally I believe Gareth can get a little carried away and perhaps
could have explained in a less condesending manner, however fundamentally
he is correct and so I will back him up.

It takes a big man to realise his mistakes and correct them rather than
taking offense.

Very good I accept your apology regarding calling people in this group
idiots but I do want to ask you a question, if I or someone else were
speaking with you in person and made a grammatical error whilst
talking with you would you try and correct me each time you thought I
had made such an error?

If your answer is no then why is it you and your pal try to do it at
the end of your keyboard?

If the answer is yes and I were you I would be very conscious of the
fact that someone may decide to administer some summary justice to you
at the time you try it.

Let me also tell you, so there is no doubt in your minds, I am not the
least bit interested in your views about how and how not people should
write their Emails so please keep your thoughts and insults to
yourselves.

John.

I was not apologising for calling people idiots, as I did not do this. I was apologising for not making it clearer what I meant.

I would not try to correct you regarding your speech but I would happily
correct you, in person, regarding the email you sent.

These are not simply our views, these are generally accepted views by the
email using community as a whole.

As you seem unable to take a hint, I will resign from this conversation.

If I agree with everyone can we crack on ?
I have no idea about grammar or etiquette ( as you can see i can't spell either)
I am however interested in getting a robust wireless network going so I can stop being ripped off by the likes of bt AND THE USUAL"BIG BOYS" ( whoops caps)

I would love to meet in the 3 arrows on the 18th to discuss and am willing to help in anyway i can though i am not as technical or knowledgeable as some clearly are.

I can carry trays of drinks and things

Cheers

I'm not sure if we will ever get a free wifi without catches access to
the Internet but there is something you can do now to decrease your
costs if your ISP is NTL. If you complain to them that they are
charging too much and you intend to leave because of this they will
make significant reductions in what they charge you. For example a 10
meg link normally costs £34.99 with NTL but if you challenge them you
can actually get it for £17.49. You have to make them believe you so
dig your heals in until they put you over to the retention's dept.

John, who has had his wifi network up and running for a long time now.

Dear all,

just a note to let you all know the long dormant
http://consume.net/nodedb has been resurrected !
its a bit delicate so be gentle and the wiki still missing..

In the near future looking to revisit the node nomination, peer finding
and mapping issues with a fresh set of scripts to manipulate this data
further. So if you have any comments or contributions to make then I
guess best made to consumethenet mailing list..
http://lists.consume.net, thanks

So pleased to hear your voices on this list once again, hope you can all
find the 3 Arrows and enjoy meeting up. I am too tied up in my own
wireless mesh nonsense http://boundless.coop to get there from London,
have fun and please post your notes.

easy

James

The 3 Arrows is a bit of a pain to get to if you don't drive, it's out
in Middleton in north Manchester near the M60. It is however a nice,
quiet pub with plenty of siderooms to meet people.

This google map should place it pretty well
